City of Carrollton
Welcome to the City of Carrollton. As you will discover, our community offers an outstanding quality of life due to its central location, wide variety of neighborhoods and housing, excellent school districts and medical facilities, and high-quality city services.

Since 1990, Carrollton’s population has increased by 33.4%, from in 1990 to 120,150 in 2008. Population Projects from NCTCOG indicate that Carrollton’s population will stable out to over 124,000 in 2030.

Four independent school districts lie within the City boundaries. The Carrollton/Farmers Branch Independent School District, Lewisville Independent School District, Plano Independent School District and Dallas Independent School District. The majority of Carrollton's school age residents attend schools within the Carrollton/Farmers Branch Independent School District or the Lewisville Independent School District. The Plano Independent School District does not contain any schools. Carrollton's school population, being over 24,000 students, consists of approximately 45% elementary students, 19% middle school students, and 36% high school students. Carrollton has a large private school enrollment as well. The instruction accommodates pre-kindergarten through high school levels. In addition, the community is served by a number of preschools.
Higher Education
According to the 2006 American Community Survey, 40.6% of the City’s population have attained a bachelor's degree or higher. Centrally located, Carrollton is within 30 minutes of most colleges and universities in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Some of the larger universities include: Southern Methodist University, University of North Texas, and the University of Texas Arlington and Dallas campuses. Area colleges include Brookhaven, Collin County Community College, Richland College and El Centro.
