City of Haltom
Haltom City is a city in Tarrant County, Texas, United States. Haltom City is an inner suburb of Fort Worth. The population was 39,018 at the 2000 census.
As of the census of 2000, there were 39,018 people, 14,922 households, and 9,997 families residing in the city. The population density was 3,148.4 people per square mile (1,215.9/km²). There were 15,716 housing units at an average density of 1,268.2/sq mi (489.7/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 76.82% White, 2.79% African American, 0.73% Native American, 7.71% Asian, 0.12% Pacific Islander, 9.23% from other races, and 2.61% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 19.92% of the population.
There were 14,922 households out of which 33.7% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 49.4% were married couples living together, 12.0% had a female householder with no husband present, and 33.0% were non-families. 27.1% of all households were made up of individuals and 8.0% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.61 and the average family size was 3.19.
In the city the population was spread out with 27.1% under the age of 18, 10.2% from 18 to 24, 32.9% from 25 to 44, 19.4% from 45 to 64, and 10.4% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 32 years. For every 100 females there were 100.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 98.1 males.
The median income for a household in the city was $38,818, and the median income for a family was $42,706. Males had a median income of $32,785 versus $26,013 for females. The per capita income for the city was $17,740. About 7.6% of families and 10.0% of the population were below the poverty line, including 12.5% of those under age 18 and 9.8% of those age 65 or over.
