City of Mansfield
Mansfield is a city in Ellis, Johnson, and Tarrant Counties in the U.S. state of Texas and a suburb of Fort Worth. The population was 41,564 in 2006 (though signs in the city have the population at 59,000).
In 2009, CNN/Money Magazine rated Mansfield as one of the "Best Places to Live", ranking 24 out of the top 100 places.Mansfield business and pleasure travelers are approximately 16 miles away from Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, and a mere 40 minutes from the nation's first all-industrial airport, Alliance Airport. Mansfield's roadway network includes three major routes, plus access to the Metroplex's 6 Interstates, 10 U.S. and 19 State highways. Approximately forty percent of Mansfield's total land area is undeveloped and businesses of all types are able to select major electric companies along with access to all other utilities. State-of-the-art telecommunication services are offered to all customers.Mansfield residents are well educated, skilled, and successful. Workers of all professions, skill levels and salaries are located within an easy thirty-minute commute of Mansfield. Numerous technical, vocational and advanced education institutions are located in surrounding communities.As of the census of 2000, there were 28,031 people, 8,881 households, and 7,646 families residing in the city. The population density was 768.5 people per square mile (296.7/km²). There were 9,172 housing units at an average density of 251.4/sq mi (97.1/km²).
The racial makeup of the city was 86.41% White, 4.40% African American, 0.57% Native American, 1.23% Asian, 0.02% Pacific Islander, 5.67% from other races, and 1.71% from two or more races. 12.75% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.There were 8,881 households out of which 50.4% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 74.5% were married couples living together, 8.3% had a female householder with no husband present, and 13.9% were non-families. 10.9% of all households were made up of individuals and 3.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 3.08 and the average family size was 3.32.In the city the population was spread out with 31.8% under the age of 18, 7.8% from 18 to 24, 34.6% from 25 to 44, 20.2% from 45 to 64, and 5.7% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 32 years. For every 100 females there were 102.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 101.1 males. According to a 2006 estimate, the median family income in Mansfield is $84,589. Males had a median income of $50,084 versus $30,796 for females. The per capita income for the city was $26,446. About 2.7% of families and 4.0% of the population were below the poverty line, including 4.4% of those under age 18 and 5.4% of those age 65 or over.
